Jennifer Aniston joins Marlo Thomas in lending their celebrity status to bring attention to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital founded by Thomas’ father, the late entertainer Danny Thomas. As part of the 2009 Thanks and Giving campaign, Jennifer Aniston appears in a public service announcement with Amber, a young girl who suffers from a rare form of cancer.
Marlo Thomas is appearing on The Today Show every day this week (November 23-27) to highlight the stories of the “doctors, patients and families who are able to find hope and courage in the fight against childhood catastrophic illnesses.” With the help of donations from the public, St. Jude is the only pediatric cancer research center where families never pay for treatment not covered by insurance. St. Jude’s hospital states that “no child is ever denied treatment because of the family’s inability to pay.”
Jennifer Aniston has lent her support to St. Jude’s for several years now. Jennifer Aniston recently teamed up with her father, Days of Our Lives star, John Aniston, to narrate a children’s book called Loukoumi’s Good Deeds, in which a portion of the proceeds from the book will go to St. Jude’s.
Other celebrities including Robin Williams, Antonio Banderas and Reggie Bush also appear in PSAs for St. Jude’s. You can also support St. Jude’s by purchasing items from their gift shop including a shirt that Jennifer Aniston modeled for them which says “Give Thanks”.
